I would like to conduct an informal survey of anyone interested in starting or joining a VA climbling association, coalition, ect... Right now there is no (that I'm aware of) group of this kind in VA. I beleive that if a group could be started we could find and develope good climbing, ie closer climbing, in VA. I'm aware of the great climbing at the "New" and down in NC, but would'nt it be nice to not drive 6 hours to climb. So give me comments good and bad on the idea. |

just for the record, i know nothing about coalitions and that sort, especially climbing related, but i think it's an interesting idea and would like to help whenever i could. i haven't been outdoor climbing yet, but driving six hours doesn't sound fun (not that i wouldn't do it, i would be more than happy to do it).

Thanks for the support Kevin. I'm going to contact Mel at the gym and see if I can garner support with them on the idea. One of the points about the group would be to get more people from the area to go climbing outside. Cuz once you get on real rock, there is nothing else like it |

I'd be interested in an outdoors climbing club. Where does one find rocks in Virginia??

There are several places in Va to climb. Some are not the greatest, but its still outside. I'm going to try and get up w/ Mel this week at the gym about the idea. |
